(1) get可与形容词连用，意思与become(变得)相似。

• She got tired with running.
  她跑得很累。
• I get awfully tired of those things.
  我变得非常讨厌那些东西。
• As autumn sets in, it is getting/becoming colder and colder.
  随着秋天的到来，天气变得越来越冷了。

 (2) ①go也可与一些形容词连用，特别是常与表示颜色的词连用。

• Leaves go brown in autumn.
  树叶秋天变黄了。
• People go red/pale/white with anger.
  人生起气来面色会发红/变苍白。

②其他类似的短语还有：go blue with cold, go green with seasickness, go purple with rage等。

③go还可跟一些形容词连用，表示人或事物向坏的方面变化，特别是当这种变化是永久或难以逆转时，如：People go mad/crazy/bald/deaf/blind/grey...但go不与old, tired, ill连用。其他类似短语还有：a horse goes lame, machines go wrong, beer goes flat, jam goes sugary, meat goes bad, milk goes sour, cheese goes mouldy, bread goes stale/hard, iron goes rusty等。

 (3) ①turn也常用于这类短语，用法比go更正式。

• His old father's hair turned grey in a few weeks.
  他老父亲的头发在几周内就变得花白了。
• With the approach of Christmas, the weather turned colder .
  随着圣诞节的临近，天气变得更冷了。
• The milk will speedily turn sour if you do not put it in the icebox.
  如果你不把牛奶放进冰箱，它很快就会变酸。

②turn用作此意时，也可接名词(前面多不加冠词)。

• When her servant left to have a baby, Lady Susan had to turn cook .
  她的仆人离开去生孩子时，苏珊女士不得不自己做饭。
• He used to be a teacher till he turned writer .
  他成为作家之前是一名教师。
