(1) happen, occur, take place意思均为“发生”,有时可换用。
- Great changes have happened/taken place/occurred in my hometown in the past few years.

(2) ①happen常带有偶然的意味,多用于客观事件的发生,不用于主观想法的产生。
- An accident happened and many lives were lost.

(3) ①take place意为“发生,举行,召开,举办”,常用于有组织的活动或按计划发生的事,如会议、婚礼、宴会等。
- In 1919, the May 4th Movement took place in China.
1919年,中国爆发了五四运动。 - They decided that the ceremony should take place on Thursday.
他们决定于星期四举行仪式。 - In the U.S.A., elections take place every four years and Congress meets once a year.
在美国,选举每四年举行一次,而国会每年召开一次。 - The concert takes place next Friday.

②take place也用于其他场合。
