(1) tall意味着“高而细长”，只用于形容人、树、建筑物(如烟囱、铁塔)等高度特别突出的事物，不用于形容山(mountain)、腿(legs)，其反义词是short；而high则是最普通的用词，强调高出地面之上，其反义词是low。

• He is a very tall man.(也可用high，但不如tall常用)
  他是一个个头非常高的人。
• I'm five feet six inches tall/high .
  我身高5英尺6英寸。
• There's a very lovely tall tree in our garden. (也可用high)

 (2) high和tall均可用于建筑物，如：a high/tall building，但形容山脉时要用high。

 (3) high可用于具体事物，也可用于抽象事物，指程度、数量、大小，表示“高度的，非常的，很大的”意思，也可表示等级质量，意为“高级的，高等的”。
