(1) ①incline 意为“(使)倾向”,后接宾语+不定式复合结构,也常用被动语态,表示“使(某人)心想,使有意/倾向于做某事”,后接不定式。
- The news inclines me to start at once.
这消息使我想立刻动身。 - I'm inclined to think (=I have a feeling/idea) that he is unwilling to cooperate with us.
我倾向于认为他不愿与我们合作。 - What he said inclined me to think that he was not so much interested in the plan.
他的话使我倾向于认为他对这项计划并不怎么感兴趣。
②过去分词inclined常可用作表语。
- We can go for a walk along the river if you feel so inclined .
假如你也愿意的话,我们可以沿着河边散散步。
③be inclined除接不定式外,还可接介词短语。
- I'm inclined to think/thinking that President Bush is unshakable in his determination to wage a preemptive war against Iraq.

④incline也用作不及物动词,意为“倾向于(认为、相信)”。
- I inclined to believe in his innocence.

(2) intend意为“意欲,打算”,可接:①不定式;②动名词;③宾语+不定式结构;④that从句;⑤名词、代词。
What do you intend to do today? 你今天打算做什么?

- You needn't to take it to heart, he intended nothing of the sort.

(3) tend意为“倾向,有某种趋势,趋于,往往”。
- Prices are tending downward(s)/upward(s) .
物价有下降/上升趋势。 - Excessive eating tends to cause the disease of stomach.
吃得过多往往会引起胃病。 - Most governments of the world are tending toward democracy.
世界上大多数政府都倾向于走向民主。 - He tends to get angry when people disagree with him.
当人们不赞成他时,他往往会发火。 - People tend/are inclined to get fat as they grow older.
人们上了年纪往往会发胖。
