(1) make of意思是“由……制造”，其材料只发生物理变化。

• The house is made of brick/stone.
  这房子是砖/石结构的。

 (2) make out of后接材料，意思是“用……制造出”。

• The peasants make organic fertilizer out of maize and sorghum stalks.
  农民用玉米秆和高粱秆制造有机肥料。

 (3) make up of意为“(由……)构成；由……组成”。

• Are all animal bodies made up of cells?
  所有动物的躯体都是由细胞构成的吗？
• The committee is made up of ten people, seven men and three women.
  委员会由10人组成，7男3女。

 (4) make from后接材料，强调所发生的是化学变化或原材料形状改变。

• Cheese is made from milk.
  奶酪是由牛奶制成的。
• The flour is made from wheat.
  面粉是麦子做的。

 (5) make into意思是“使……成为；把……制成”。

• Flour is made into bread.
  面粉被制成面包。
• The huts can be made into temporary houses.
  这些茅舍可以改造成临时房屋。

 (6) make sth. of sb./sth.意思是“使某人/物成为……”。

• His parents want to make a doctor of him.
  他的父母想使他成为医生。
• Don't make a hash/mess/muddle of it.
  别把事情弄糟了。
• Don't make an ass/a fool of yourself.
  不要像驴那样笨。/不要做傻瓜。
