(1) own可用作形容词，与one's连用表示强调。
- He liked to work around his own home.
他喜欢在自己家附近上班。 - I saw it with my own eyes. (=I saw it myself.)
我亲眼看见的。 - Every cook praises his own broth. 〈谚〉
厨师都称道自己的汤／王婆卖瓜，自卖自夸。
(2) own可用作代词，作表语、宾语、定语，表示“自己的(人或物)”。
- They had given their lives to save children not their own .
为了救别人的孩子，他们献出了自己的生命。 - This flower has a flavor all its own .
这种花有其特有的香味。 - I only borrowed it, it's not my own .
这只是我借的，不是我自己的。
(3) of one's own表示“自己的……”。
- She had no children of her own .
她没有自己的孩子。 - All the five children grew up and had families of their own .
五个孩子全都长大了，并且有了自己的家庭。
(4) ①on one's own意思是“独自，靠自己的力量”，可用作状语、表语。
- He got the job on his own .
他靠自己的力量得到了这份工作。 - I have usually gone on holiday with a friend, but this year I have decided to go on my own .
我通常是与朋友一起去度假，但今年我已决定独自去。 - Do you mean you've left her to do that (all) on her own?
你是说你完全让她自己做吗？ - You can come if you like, I'm (all) on my own today.

②on one's own还表示“突出，无人能比”。
