(1) prone意为“常可能(做某事);容易(做某事、出现某种情况)”,这种事或情况通常是不好的,常与to连用,后面可接不定式、名词或动名词。

(2) ①liable意为“(由于性质、性情、习惯或倾向)常会、容易(做某事或出现某种情况)”,这种事或情况通常是不好的,常与介词to连用,也可接不定式,与prone to常可换用。
- She is liable to bad colds/to catch cold.
她易患感冒。 - Children are liable to run away if strangers speak to them.
如果陌生人跟小孩子说话,他们总爱跑开。 - Products of plastics are liable to catch fire.

(3) ①apt意为“容易……;常会……”,指由于性质或天性常会做某事,容易出现某种情况或倾向,后面接不定式。
- This kind of shoe is apt to slip on wet ground.
这种鞋子在湿地上容易打滑。 - The weather is apt to be very hot in Jinan in summer.
济南的夏天天气往往非常炎热。 - That dog is apt to bite if he is teased.

②apt有时作“很可能”解,等于likely。

(4) inclined常用作表语,表示“倾向于……;感到想……;常常……”,多指主观上的倾向,一般用于人,常接不定式、介词to,有时接介词for。
- I don't feel specially inclined to spend my holidays there.
我并不特别想在那里度假。 - I'm inclined to think the plan is somewhat impractical.
我倾向于认为那个计划有些不现实。 - He had been inclined to talkativeness, but gradually he became silent.
他曾一度很健谈,但渐渐地变得沉默起来。
(5) ①susceptible意为“易感受……的;敏感的;易受……感动的;易受……影响的;易受到……的”;常与介词to连用,如:susceptible to flattery/kind
treatment/a woman's tears/colds等。
A vague law is always susceptible to differing interpretations.
模糊不清的法律容易有不同解释。
②be susceptible of意为“能……的;容许……的”。
- The sentence is susceptible of two interpretations.
这个句子可有两种解释。 - Is your statement susceptible of proof?
你的话有证据吗? - A signed contract is not susceptible of change.

(6) subject用作形容词时,常与介词to连用,表示:
①“受……制约,受……约束”。
- Wherever you are, you have to be subject to the rules and regulations of the company you belong to.
不管你在哪里,都必须受到所在公司规章制度的约束。
②“在……条件下;须经……;尚待……;取决于……”。
- You can have a try again subject to the manager's approval.
在经理同意的条件下,你可以再试一次。 - Subject to your consent, I propose to start the project a month earlier.

③“易(遭)受,易发生,常有,得经常忍受,可能会(需要)”,在此意义上可与prone, liable, susceptible换用,但只后接介词to,与名词连用。
