区别辨析 queue, line 与 row

(1) queue表示“排成一队(纵向)的人;长队”。“排长队”可以说form a queue/line或stand in a queue/line。queue还可用来指等待前进的一列车辆。

 (2) line指人或物的“排,列”,如:a line of people, a long line of poplars等,又如:There are 20 words on/to a line. 一行有20个字。

 (3) row则指一行(横向),如:two rows of houses, three rows of desks等。

  • In front of the theater, there were many people standing in a long queue waiting to buy tickets for that night's show.
    剧院前面有许多人排着长队等候购买那天晚上演出的票。
  • I joined the queue/line of people waiting for the bus.
    我加入了等候公交车的一队人中。
  • How can you bring yourself to jump the queue since there are so many people queuing up for tickets for the concert?
    这么多人排队买音乐会的票,你怎么能插队呢?
  • There are eight pupils sitting in the front row .
    前排坐着八个学生。
  • Rows of new houses have been built/have sprung up here in the recent years.
    近几年,这里建起了/冒出了一排排的新房。
