(1) read over意思为“(仔细)看一遍；看完”。over为副词。

• Although I've read the instruction over several times, I still could not follow them.
  虽然我把说明看了几遍,我还是弄不懂。
• I'll give you my opinion when I've had time to read the book over .
  当我有了时间看完这部书时，我将告诉你我的意见。

 (2) read through意思是“(从头至尾)看一遍；看完”，through可以是介词，也可以是副词。through用作副词时，read through可以与read over换用。

• I have read through five chapters of the book.
  这本书我已看完五章。
• I've read it through/over twice, but I still couldn't make any sense of it.
  我已把它看了两遍，但我还是不能理解。

 (3) go through除表示其他意思外，还可表示“看一遍；做一遍”，through 用作介词。

• Give the magazine to John when you have gone through it.
  你看完这本杂志后，把它交给约翰。
• I'll leave some time for you to go through the dialogue with a partner.
  我将留给你们一些时间，与对方练习一遍对话。

 (4) be through也可表示“读完，做完”。

• The novel is so interesting. I've already been through (with it) .
  这部小说非常有趣，我已经读完了。

＊如要说“看完(做完)一半、几分之几”，则可说：

• I'm just about half-way through .
  我已读完/做完大约一半。
• I'm only about two thirds through .
  我才读完/做完大约三分之二。
