(1) ①recommend表示“推荐，介绍”，可用recommend sth./sb. (to sb. for sth.)， recommend sb. sth.，recommend sb. (for sth./as sth.)等。

• Can you recommend me another novel?
  你能向我推荐另一部小说吗？
• I recommended her without reservation for the job/as your secretary.
  我毫无保留地推荐她担任这一工作/你的秘书。
• He has been recommended for first class honours.
  他被推荐为头等荣誉的获得者。
• I recommend this medicine for your cough.
  我推荐这种药来治你的咳嗽。
• What do you recommend for getting rid of woodworm in furniture?
  你能推荐个好办法去除家具中的蛀虫吗？

②recommend还表示“建议，劝告”，有时可接宾语＋不定式，也可接动名词。

• Do you have anything you can recommend as a cure for a headache?
  你有什么好方法可以治头疼吗？
• I recommend you to follow your doctor's advice.
  我劝你听从医生的建议。
• They recommended (my) buying this car.
  他们劝我购买这辆车。

③recommend也可接从句，从句中多用should加动词原形或将should省掉。这一点与suggest表示“建议”时所接从句相同。

• The doctor recommended that she (should) go to the country to have a complete rest.
  医生建议她到乡下去彻底休息一下。

④recommend还表示“使人有好感，使有吸引力”。

• Hawaii recommends it as an ideal place for a holiday.
  夏威夷是一个理想的度假胜地。
• This hotel has nothing/little to recommend it (to travellers) except cheapness.
  这家旅馆除了便宜以外没有什么吸引游人的地方。

 (2) ①introduce作“介绍”解，是通过介绍使相识、了解。

• She was asked to introduce her method to the other workers.
  她被要求把自己的方法介绍给其他工人。
• A visit to the exhibition introduced the students to American culture.
  这次参观展览使同学们了解了美国文化。
• I was first introduced to the plays of Shakespeare by my friend Frank.
  我的朋友弗兰克最先介绍我了解了莎士比亚的戏剧。

②introduce还可作“传入，引入，采用”解。

• Recently he introduced a new species of apple to the region.
  最近他向该地区引进了一个苹果新品种。
• Once they even thought of introducing him into the membership of the Party.
  他们甚至一度想把他介绍入党。

 (3) ①commend表示“称赞，赞扬”，可与praise换用。

• His work was highly commended .
  他的工作受到了高度称赞。
• He was commended for his bravery/his noble spirit of sacrificing himself for others.
  他因为勇敢／为了别人而牺牲自我的高尚精神受到称赞。

②commend也可表示“推荐，给……说好话”。

• I'd very much like to commend this method to you; I've tried it myself, and have always found it successful.
  我很想把这方法推荐给你。我已试过了，并且发现它总是很有效。

③commend oneself to sb.意思是“受……欢迎；被……喜爱；使……感兴趣”。

• Will the proposal commend itself to the public?
  这项建议会受到公众的欢迎吗？
• Such TV plays don't commend themselves to me at all.
  我对这些电视剧根本不感兴趣。
