(1) ①recover表示“恢复，重新获得”，用于精神、力量、知觉、健康、胃口、视力、名誉(reputation)等。以当事人作主语，一般不用被动语态。

• It's going to be some time before I recover my full strength/health/spirits.
  我完全恢复体力／健康／精神，还需要一段时间。
• When he recovered consciousness, the first thing he asked was the condition of the passengers.
  当他恢复了知觉后，他问的第一件事就是乘客的情况。

②recover又有“重新找到；收复，收回；赚回”的意思，有时可用被动语态。

• Have you recovered your lost bike?
  你找到丢失的自行车了吗？
• The army has recovered all of the cities it lost.
  这支军队已收复它失去的所有城市。
• We must recover our losses somehow, or we shall be bankrupt.
  我们必须设法赚回所蒙受的损失，否则我们将会破产。

③recover用作不及物动词，后接from，与表示病患、战争、灾害引起的后果、挫折、失望、惊慌等情况或状态的词连用。

• A: Has he recovered from his illness?
  他从疾病中康复了吗？
  B: No, not quite. He is still recovering from it.
  没有，还未完全恢复。他仍在恢复中。
• She's home now slowly recovering from the operation.
  她正在家中休养，慢慢地从手术中康复。

④用过去分词作表语，表示“痊愈，恢复正常”。

• Is he completely recovered from the severe flu?
  他完全从这次严重的流感中康复了吗？
• When he met Jennie three years later, he found her quite recovered , prettier and more blooming than ever.
  三年后当他见到珍妮时，他发现她已完全康复了，较之以前更漂亮迷人、更青春焕发了。

⑤recover与反身代词连用，表示“恢复正常状态，镇静下来”。

• The skater almost fell, but recovered himself just in time.
  那位滑冰者几乎要摔倒了，但他及时恢复到了正常状态。
• The old lady soon recovered herself and stopped crying.
  老太太很快镇静下来，不再哭泣。

 (2) ①restore表示“恢复，修复，复职，找回”，常含有被动的意味。

• I found him completely restored to health after a long period of intensive care.
  我发现他经过长期的精心护理已完全康复了。
• He seems in danger of losing his post, to which he was recently restored .
  他好像有失去最近刚恢复的职位的危险。
• The old building had become a ruin, but the people of the town contributed money and restored it to its original state.
  这座古老建筑已成废墟，但该市市民捐款将它恢复了原貌。
• Our friendship is restored, from now on we will never again be separated.
  我们的友谊已经恢复，从现在起，我们再也不会分开了。

②restore又作“放还原处，归还，找回”解。

• His conscience overcame him and he restored the books he had taken from the library.
  他的良知占了上风，他把从图书馆拿来的书又放回去了。
• You can rest assured that your property is restored (to you).
  你尽可放心，你的财产是会归还于你的。
• He still cherished an illusion that he would restore his bike.
  他还抱有幻想，以为他会找回自己的自行车的。

③restore to表示“使……恢复成(某种状况)”。

• The imperial gardens have been restored to their former grandeur.
  这些御花园已恢复了昔日的辉煌。
• I sincerely hope you'll soon be restored to health.
  我真诚地希望你会很快康复。

 (3) be well again, get well, be/get right (again)意为“痊愈”，日常口语中常用。get/feel/be better是“好些了”；get/be over, over是介词，后接疾病，表示“克服，战胜”，这些短语均以人作主语。

• Don't worry; you'll certainly be quite well again.
  不用担心，你肯定会完全康复的。
• Hasn't he got well (again)?
  他还未痊愈吗？
• I'm sure you'll be all right (again) in a week or so.
  我相信你一周左右就会好的。
• He has got/been over his influenza.
  他的流感已经好了。

 (4) recuperate表示“(在病后、疲倦后)恢复体力；健康；复原；休养”，可用作及物动词和不及物动词。

• He is gradually recuperating (his health) after a long illness.
  久病之后他正逐渐康复。
• He has gone to the seaside to recuperate .
  他已去海边休养去了。
• The country has recuperated after years of financial losses.
  这个国家在经历多年财政亏损后恢复了元气。
