(1) representative作形容词时,意思是“表明/象征/说明/代表……的”,与of连用。当名词作“代表”解时,多指选出的,或委任的代表、代理。
- Mr. Smith is our representative at the conference.

(2) delegate指“(被选派参加会议或派驻机构的)代表”。
- Mr. Wang acted as Chinese delegate to the UN.

(3) ①deputy意思是“代表,代理人”,一般指受托代理工作或职权的人。
- I must find someone as (a) deputy for me during my absence.
我必须找一个人,在我离开期间代理我的职务。 - The Prime Minister's deputy has powers conferred by Parliament.
首相的代表拥有议会赋予的权力。
②deputy还可指“某些国家(如法国)立法机构的成员”。
