(1) rescue是“救出，解救，援救，使免于(灾祸等)”。

• The firemen rescued 3 women from the burning house.

• He must fight to change the world, to rescue civilization.
  他必须去战斗来改变世界，拯救文明。

 (2) ①save意为“挽救，拯救”，在有些情况下可与rescue换用，使用范围比rescue广，是普通用词。

• The young man saved/rescued the little girl from drowning at the cost of his own life.
  这个年轻人牺牲了自己的生命救出了这个溺水的小女孩。
• He hesitated whether he should make one last attempt to save the man.
  他犹豫着是否应该做最后一次努力来拯救这个人。

②save还可作“节省(时间、金钱等)；省去(麻烦)”。

• He concentrated himself upon his work and upon how to save time.
  他一门心思扑在工作和如何节省时间上。

 (4) salvage表示从损失、灾害等中“抢救，援救，打捞，保住(身体的某部分)”，可以作名词，也可作及物动词。

• They managed to salvage the cargo of the sinking ship.
  他们设法从下沉的轮船中抢救出了货物。
• All that could be salvaged from the ashes was a small metal box containing instruments.
  能从废墟中抢救出来的只有一个装有仪器的金属盒。
