(1) ①same表示“相同的，同一的，无变化的”，可作形容词、副词和名词。
- Men and women get the same pay for doing the same jobs.
男女同工同酬。 - These remote regions were still/much/about the same after 50 years.
这些偏远地区过了50年仍是/大致仍是老样子。 - I feel the same today as I did yesterday.
我今天和昨天感觉一样。 - They don't look at things the same as we do.
他们看事情的角度和我们的不一样。 - One should speak clearly and it is the same with writing.
一个人说话应清楚，写东西也一样。
②same除在公文和商业公函中外，一般前面要加the或this, that, these, those等。
- I stayed at home on Monday, and on that same day, the office was wrecked by a bomb.
星期一我待在家里，就在那天，办公室被炸弹炸毁了。
③在公文和商业公函中，same前一般不用the。
- It is announced in Bangkok that those who have in their possession of short wave radios are allowed to keep them after same have been registered at the City Police.
曼谷宣布，凡有短波无线电收音机者在市警察局登记后准予保存。 - We have received your cheque for $500，000 and we enclosed a receipt for same .
收到您500000美元支票一张，兹奉上该支票收据。
④same后可接从句，说明比较对象。如从句为省略句，要用as来接；如系完整的句子，可视情况分别用as, that, when, where或who来接。
- He gave the same answer that/as I did.
他给的答案与我所给的一样。 - They got there at the same time when/as I did.
他们与我同时到达那儿。
(2) similar则是“相似，类似”之意，要说明与什么相似，后接to。
- Similar conditions are to be found in all other Latin American countries.
在所有其他拉丁美洲国家也会找到相似的情况。 - My wife and I have similar tastes in literature.
我和妻子在文学上有相似的趣味。 - His views are similar to mine.
他的看法与我的相似。
(3) identical意思是“(完全)相同的，同一的，就是那个”，与to/with连用。
- This is the identical knife with which the murder was committed.
这就是谋杀案发生时所用的那把刀子。 - He replaced the broken dish with an identical one.
他用一个完全相同的碟子替换了打碎的那只。 - Our views of what should be done are identical .
在应该采取什么行动的问题上，我们的看法完全相同。 - Each time we came here, we were put up in the identical/same hotel.
每一次我们来这里都被安排在同一旅馆。 - So far as an untrained eye could tell, the reproduction was identical to the designer's original.

(4) ①like作形容词，表示“差不多的，相像的，相似的”，可作表语，也可作定语。
- The two sisters are very like in appearance.
这姐妹俩相貌很相像。 - They are as like as two peas.
他们完全一样。 - He writes well on this and like subjects.
这种题材和类似题材他都写得很好。 - Like/similar causes produce like/similar results.
类似的原因产生类似的结果。 - They reacted in a like manner.
他们的反应类似。
②like可构成合成词。
We will never take pity on snake-like scoundrels.
我们将永远不会同情毒蛇般的恶棍。
(5) ①alike侧重“相互之间相像”，只用作表语。
- His two daughters are very (much) alike in appearance but quite different in character.
他们两个女儿外貌很相像，但性格迥异。 - The two twins are so alike that I can't tell which is which.
这两个双胞胎如此相像，我分不出谁是谁。 - These buildings are much/just/exactly/all/somewhat alike in shape and size.
这些楼房在样式和大小上大体上／完全／有些相像。
②alike还可用作副词，意为“同样地，一视同仁地”。
- They are alike faced with the same economic problems.
他们同样面临着相同的经济问题。 - We must treat everyone alike .
我们必须一视同仁地对待每一个人。
