(1) ①send for可表示“(派人或送信)去请(某人)”。

• Send for a doctor, a man has been hurt.
  去叫一位医生来，有人受伤了。
• You sent for me, sir?
  先生，是你派人去叫我了吗？
• Leave this house now, or I will send for the police.
  马上离开这间房间，否则我就叫警察了。

②send for还可表示“派人去/来取某物”解。

• Please keep the suitcase until I send for it.
  请看管这个手提箱直到我派人来取它。

③send for还可作“邮购物品”解。

• You can send for these seeds at a very cheap price.
  你能以非常低廉的价格邮购这些种子。

 (2) go for可以表示“(自己)去取、请或买”。

• She has gone for medicine.
  她去取药了。
• He is going for a doctor.
  他正自己去叫医生。

 (3) rush for可作“急忙赶(车等)；匆忙去取(某物)”解。

• I saw so many people rushing for the bus that people could hardly get off.
  我看见有那么多的人冲向公共汽车，以至车内的人难以下车。
