(1) ①show既可作及物动词,又可作不及物动词,意为“出示,展示,上演,放映”。作“展出”解时可与exhibit换用;作及物动词时,可用在show sb. sth.或show sth. to sb.短语中。

(2) ①display可作“展示,陈列;显露,表现”解,与show接近。
- Many department stores display their goods in the windows.

②display还可作“炫耀”解。

(3) ①exhibit意思是“陈列,展览”,可以是为了乐趣,也可以是为了售卖、竞赛,还可作“显示”解,例如:exhibit endurance/courage/fear/failure等。

(5) indicate用姿势、目光等“表示,象征,说明”。
