(1) ①situate表示“位于，坐落于”，常用的句型为be situated +介词短语。

• The town is situated on the Nile River.
  这个小镇位于尼罗河边。
• The village is situated in a scenic valley.
  这个村子坐落于一个风景秀丽的山谷里。

②be situated还可表示“处于某种环境”。

• The house is poorly situated, far from public transportation.
  这所房子位置很差，远离公共交通设施。

③也可表示“人的处境”。

• I am well situated now with my new job.
  我现在有了新工作，境况不错。
• How are you situated financially now?
  你现在经济情况如何？

 (2) stand可表示“(某物)立于(某处)；位于(某处)”。

• The sawmill stands at the foot of a wooded hill.
  这个锯木场位于一个树木茂盛的小山的脚下。
• Our school stands by a stream.
  我们的学校位于一条小河边。

 (3) lie也可作“位于……；在……地方”解。

• The town lies on the northern bank of the river.
  小镇坐落于河流的北岸。
• Japan lies to the east of China.
  日本在中国的东面。

 (4) ①locate表示“把……放在(某处)，找到”。

• We're planning to locate our new factory near the river/on the river.
  我们正计划把新工厂安置在近河处。
• They're inclined to locate their home in the suburb.
  他们想把家安在郊区。
• Can you locate Beijing on the map?
  你能在地图上找出北京吗？

②be located表示“位于”，与be situated意思和用法相同。

• Our school is located/situated next to the river.
  我们的学校位于河边。

 (5) sit也可表示“位于、坐落在(某处)”。

• His house sits beside a waterfall overlooking the beautiful lake.
  他的房子位于一个瀑布旁边，可俯瞰美丽的湖水。
• The lake sits on the top of the mountain.
