(1) speech指“演讲,讲话,报告”,可以是正式的,也可是非正式的。

虽然事先未被通知就被叫来,她却做了一个非常精彩的即席演讲。 - I have a speech to prepare for tomorrow's conference.
我还要为明天的会准备一个报告。
(2) address指在正式场合所做的有准备的演讲。
- The secretary-general is scheduled to deliver an address at the conference.
秘书长拟在明天的大会上发表演讲。 - The President gave an address to the nation over television last night.
昨天晚上总统在电视上对全国人民做了一次演讲。
(3) ①lecture常指就某一专题进行的有准备的讲座或讲课。
- Teachers use lectures to impart knowledge to students.
教师利用讲座向学生传授知识。 - We just heard a lecture on office cybernation.
我们刚听了一个有关办公自动化的讲座。
②lecture也作“训斥”解。
- Father gave Peter a lecture on keeping things in order.
父亲训斥彼得,让他保持东西的井井有条。 - His father gave him a lecture for stealing apples from the neighbor's orchard.
他因偷了邻家果园的苹果而受到父亲的训斥。
(4) talk表示“谈话”,侧重于非正式场合的讲话或演讲。
- Prof. Smith gave a talk on the tradition of French literature.
史密斯教授就法国文学传统做了一个报告。 - He gave us a breezy and bright talk on Japanese custom.
他就日本的风俗习惯给我们做了场轻松愉快的讲话。
(5) report则指对所见、所闻等所作的报告,可以是书面的,也可是公开演讲。
- We heard a report by the president of the university on the current situation in the Middle East region.
我们听了一场由大学校长做的有关中东地区目前形势的报告。 - An investigation report about the accident has been submitted to a committee concerned.
关于这次事故的调查报告已被提交给有关的一个委员会。
