(1) ①storey(美国人常用story)指楼房的一层，即一层的高度或空间。

• The building has three storeys /is three stories high.

• There was a fire in the top storey of the building.
  这幢楼的顶层曾一度失火。
• He lives in one of the upper storeys of the building.
  他住在此楼顶部的其中一层。

②the upper storey还可幽默地表示“脑袋，头脑”。

He's a bit weak/a little wrong in the upper storey .
他不很聪明。/他神经有问题。

 (2) floor指“房间的地板”，作“楼层”解时，指“建筑物内同一层上的房间”。

• The library has four floors .
  那个图书馆有四层。
• On which floor do you live?
  你住在几楼？
• The whole third floor is furious.
  整个三楼的全体住户怒不可遏。

 (3) 注意英式英语和美式英语在楼层表达上的差别：

• the ground storey/floor
  底层、一楼(英)
• the first storey/floor
  二层(英)；一层(美)
• the second storey/floor
