区别辨析 take/make a grab at, get a grasp of, have a (good) grasp of, keep a (firm) grasp on, take a grasp on, have/get a (good) grip of, get/take a (good) grip on 与 catch/get/grab/grasp/keep/lay/seize/take hold of

 (1) take/make a grab at表示“向(某物)抓去、抢”,含有试图抓住,但不一定成功的意味。

  • He made/took a grab at the bird, but it flew away.
    他试图捉住这只鸟,但它飞走了。
  • The company made a grab at the property; they bought it immediately.
    这家公司来抢这份财产,他们立即将它买了下来。

 (2) get a grasp of, have a (good) grasp of意为“理解,掌握”。

  • You must get/have a (good) grasp of at least one foreign language before you can work in our company.
    你必须很好地掌握至少一门外语,才能在我们公司工作。
  • We'd better let the matter stand over until we have/get a better grasp of the situation.
    我们最好把这件事情放放,直到我们更好地了解了情况。
  • She learns easily because she has a good grasp of things.

 (3) ①keep a (firm) grasp on (sth.), take a (firm) grasp on (sth.)都指“抓紧”,用keep时更强调动作的连续性。

  • Keep/Take a firm grasp on the rope, don't let go (of it).
    抓紧绳子,别松手。

②keep a (firm) grip on还可作“(严格)控制”解。

  • Keep a grip on yourself. (Don't act hastily.)
    克制住自己。(不要鲁莽行事。)

 (4) have/get a (good) grip of sth.意为“精通,掌握”,在此短语中,介词有时也用on。

  • You must have a good grip of mathematics before you can learn computer science well.
    你必须精通数学,才能学好计算机这门学科。
  • He is just beginning to have a grip on the subject.
    对这门学科,他开始慢慢入门了。

 (5) get/take a (good) grip on表示“抓住,控制,掌握,支配”。

  • The dentist took/got a (good) grip on the tooth with an instrument called forceps and pulled it out.
    牙医用一种称作镊子的工具挟住牙齿,而后把它拔出来。
  • He got a good grip on the dog's collar, for fear that it might bite people.
    他紧抓住狗项圈,以免它咬人。

 (6) ①catch/get/grab/grasp/keep/lay/seize/take hold of也较常用,比单用hold更灵活。比如hold前可加firm, fast, tight之类的修饰语,这样音韵上也更和谐。这些短语均表示“抓紧,抓住”。其中grab hold of, seize hold of含有突然的意味;keep hold of则强调动作的持续性。

  • He caught/got/seized hold of the thief by the neck.
    他抓住小偷的脖子。
  • He laid/took/grasped/grabbed hold of the rope and pulled the boat ashore.
    他抓紧绳子,把船拖上岸。
  • I can't keep hold of it; it's too slippery.
    它太滑,我抓不住它。

②get/lay hold of还有“弄到,找到”之意。

③lay hold of又有“理解,掌握”之意。

④take hold of也可引申作“控制,抓住,吸引住”解。

    孩子们出色的表演吸引住了观众。
  • He didn't let this mood take hold of him for long.

⑤keep hold of也可用作“控制”解。

  • He kept a firm/tight hold of his children.
    他对孩子们管得很紧。
