(1) thoughtful可作“体谅的，体贴的，考虑周到的”解。

• It was very thoughtful and very kind of you to drive so far to meet me here.
  你真是太好了，考虑得这么周到，大老远开车来见我。
• She was very thoughtful about others.
  她很体贴人。
• She's a very good daughter of theirs, always thoughtful of her parents.
  她是他们非常好的女儿，总是那么体贴父母。

 (2) considerate 指“替别人着想，考虑周到的”，与thoughtful意思很接近，常可换用。

• It was very considerate/thoughtful of you to send me the flowers.
  你想得太周到了，还送鲜花给我。
• Our government should be considerate of the needs and wishes of the people.
  我们的政府应该想着人民的所需所想。
• He is always considerate towards others.
  他总是为别人着想。

 (3) understanding作形容词时，可表示“善于了解他人情绪、需要或观点的，善解人意的，能体谅的”。

• Please be a little more understanding; do not punish the child.
  请多体谅孩子一点，不要惩罚他。
• She was very helpful and understanding about what happened.
  她对所发生的事帮了不少忙，也很理解此事。
