(1) thrash about/around表示“乱蹿乱跳，辗转反侧”，通常由于痛苦不安等原因所致。

• The poor child has been thrashing about/around in bed, unable to get to sleep because of a high temperature.
  那个可怜的孩子因为发高烧，在床上翻来覆去睡不着。
• Look at those fishes thrashing about/around in the net!
  看那些在网里上蹿下跳的鱼！

 (2) toss about/around也可作“翻来覆去(睡不着)，辗转反侧”解，在此意义上可与thrash about/around换用。

• Poor Jane has been tossing around/about all night, unable to sleep with that fever.
  可怜的简发高烧，一夜翻来覆去，难以入眠。
