wander, stray, ramble 与 stroll 这些词都与“行走”有关。
(1) wander指无目的或无固定路线地飘荡、徘徊,既可用于人也可用于动物。
- He was wandering about in the forest.
他在森林中徘徊。 - The dogs have greater freedom, too, for they are allowed to wander outside their enclosure.
这些狗也有较多的自由,因为允许它们在围栏外随便走动。
(2) stray指偏离了正确的路线,或背离了应当走的路线,常含有“迷路”“走失”的意思。
- The shepherd went to search for some sheep that had strayed.
牧羊人去寻找一些走失的羊。
(3) ramble意为“漫步,随便走动”,指漫无目的或逍遥自在地信步而行。
- There's plenty to discover as you ramble around this little island.
当你在小岛上信步而行时会有许多发现。
(4) stroll指散步、溜达,含有“出门闲逛的同时看看风景或有意识地把漫步作为一种户外活动”的意思。
