(1) 这些结构所表示的意思基本相同，只是前含有what的表示“一方面(一半)是因为……，一方面(一半)是因为……”，含有partly的是“部分因为……，部分因为……”。

• I haven't been able to finish the work, partly because it has been very hot and partly because I had to pay frequent visits to our sick friend Jim.

 (2) what by/through...and (what by/through)意思是“一半凭着……，一半凭着……”。
