CSI: Crime Scene Investigation , premiering on CBS on 6 October, 2000, is an American crime drama television series. The show was created by Anthony E. Zuiker and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer. It is filmed primarily at Universal Studios in Universal City, California.

In Las Vegas, forensic investigators are trained to solve crimes by examining the evidence. They scour the scene, collect the evidence, and find the missing pieces that will solve the mystery. Originally led by Gil Grissom, then Russell comes to the team. He's a family man and scientist, but not a nerd. He's a “Left Coast” Sherlock Holmes who devours crime novels and looks at every crime scene as if it were a story waiting to be told. The CSI team members also work closely with Captain Jim Brass, a seasoned detective and protector of CSI.

CSI explores the “howdunnit”, rather than a “whodunit” cop show. There have been millions of people watching CSI since it was released. And it reached the highest ratings in 2009 with the audience of 73. 8 million. Also, it has won numerous awards and nominations including 6 Emmy awards and 28 Emmy nominations.
