Starbucks Coffee is the largest coffeehouse company in the world founded in 1987 in Seattle, Washington. The name is taken from Moby Dick in which the chief mate on the Pequod is called Starbuck. Since 1987, Starbucks has opened on average two new stores every day. It has 21,160 stores in 63 countries and territories.

The logo of Starbucks has been changed twice. The original brown one was based on the image of siren in Greek mythology. The siren was topless and had a fully visible double fish tail. In the second version, the fish tail was cropped slightly, and the primary color was changed from brown to green. In January 2011, Starbucks announced that they would make small changes to the company's logo, removing the Starbucks word mark around the siren, enlarging the siren image, and making it green.

Starbucks are popular among the white collar workers in Canada and the United States. It sells drip brewed coffee, espresso-based hot drinks, other hot and cold drinks, coffee beans, salads, sweet pastries and snacks. The first Starbucks café in Seattle was located at 2000 Western Avenue from 1971-1976. This cafe was later moved to 1912 Pike Place Market; never to be relocated again. During this time, the company only sold roasted whole coffee beans and did not yet brew coffee to sell.
