有一读者问： “I have had supper.”可否变为“Supper has been had by me.”?
实义动词have一般都不能转换为被动语态，所以“I have had supper.”是没有相应的被动结构的。但也有少数例外，如：
(1)I'm afraid you've been had. （had=tricked）
(2)A good time was had by all. （这是一种固定说法，had=enjoyed）
英语里有一些动词习惯上不能转换为被动语态，除上面所说的have外，还有lack, cost, re
semble, become（适合），want（缺乏），leave（离开）等。另外，有一些固定词组，如take place, speak one's mind等，虽然由“及物动词+宾语”组成，也不能转换为被动结构。还有一
些常用的句子也不能转换为被动结构，如“I have done my best.”。这些词语和句子需要个别记忆，也可以查阅好的词典如《现代高级英语词典》和《朗文当代英语词典》。
顺便提及，阅读英语书籍时，也应该注意一些常用于被动语态的动词，如：
(3)The crops were ravaged by storms.
(4)She is reputed to be the best singer in Hong Kong.
(5)He was said to be a good teacher.
(6)The students were all set up with books for the vacation.
(7)Your trust in him was misplaced.
(8)The line of flags was slung up between two trees.
