有一读者问： 有这样连着的两个句子：
They never came back. In crossing the moor to their favorite snipe-shooting ground they were all three engulfed in a treacherous piece of fog.
这后一句中的treacherous为什么置于a piece of的中间，而不置于a piece of之前或后？
名词前修饰语的顺序一般都是冠词在前，形容词在冠词之后。piece前的修饰语亦应照此顺序排列，再如： a fine piece of sculpture, a strange piece of news, a skillful piece of work。此其一。其二，treacherous与fog似不属于固定搭配。如形容词与名词的搭配比较固定，形容词则应置于名词之前，如a piece of white paper, a piece of good luck等。
