有一读者问： 高中课本第一册上有这样一句话：
(1)He rang up all his friends in the pop world including all the most famous pop stars.
在此句中，including是介词还是动名词或现在分词？
这种including是介词或是现在分词，但绝非动名词。不少人仍将它看作现在分词，如有些词典并不将它单独列为一个词条。但当今已有不少学者认为它是一个介词。具有权威性的《英语语法大全》（A Comprehensive Grammar of the English Language ）则将including唤作“边缘介词”。《牛津现代高级英语学习词典》（Oxford Advanced Learner's Dictionary of Current English ）不但单独将including列作介词，而且举了一个很有趣的富有说服力的例子如下：
(2)Sales up to and including last month amounted to ￡10，000.
这里的including正是和up to并列，同是介词。
