如何分析这两组句子?

有一读者问: 如何分析下列两组句子:

(1) It's very kind of it to rain at this dry season.
(2) It's very nice of the building to stand there for the program.
(3) That's the right book of the librarian to be looking for.
(4) He's the only person of who to be able to attend the meeting.

让我们先看第一组中的两个句子。这两个句子的结构实际上与我们常见的下面一类的句子是一样的:

(5)It's kind of you to say so.

(6)It's wrong of him to tell lies.

按理说,不定式是真实主语,因为,且以上述句(5)为例,我们不但同样可以说:

(7)It's kind to say so. (省去of you)

(8)It's kind of you. (省去to say so)

而且可以说:

(9)That's kind of you.

然而,和“for+宾语+不定式”一样,“of+宾语+不定式”也很自然地令人感到是一不定式复合结构(即宾语与不定式在逻辑上是主谓关系)。上述第一组的两个句子更给人以这样的感觉。所以,将“of+宾语+不定式”看作复合结构,至少为了学习上的方便,也是可取的,尽管有的语法家对此持反对态度。第二组句子中的“of+宾语+不定式”似乎亦可看作是一种不定式复合结构,只不过这里的不定式复合结构,不像在上述句子中用作真实主语,而是用作了定语。而不定式复合结构用作定语的情况并不罕见,再如:

(10)There was no need of them to think of parting .

(11)It's time for us to go .

顺便说一下,上述句(4)中的who是古旧用法,其义相当于one,再如:

(12)He smiled as who should say “Well done”. (who=one)
