all-round（全面的）着重在才能、功用等。

make allowance for和make allowances（复数形式）for相同，都作“考虑到”或“体谅”解

allow（给）可以有双宾语，如He allows his son ¥10 a week和He allows himself no luxuries。

allot（分配）可以有双宾语。例如：They allotted the family three rooms.

alleyway（狭巷）只用在美国，在英国用alley。

be allergic to作“厌恶”、“极不喜欢”解。He is allergic to eggs, She is allergic to music等句子里的allergic原来是一种误用

allege有“虽然有人断言或宣称，却未必可靠”的意思，如It is alleged that they will be married soon是“据说他们不久就将结婚”

all-around是美国英语，相当于英国英语all-round。

we all, us all和all of us都可以说，you all, they all, them all, it all, all of you, all of them和all of it也都可以说。

alive是表语形容词，所以不可说very alive，该说much alive或very much alive。

alike是表语形容词，所以不可说very alike，该说much alike 或very much alike。用very much比用much普通。

The leaf looks like a bird alighted on the branch里的alighted是不及物动词的过去分词，用作形容词。
