re（关于…）用在商业或法律文件里，不该用在一般文字里。

raw用于水果作“未煮的”（uncooked）解，不作“未成熟的”解。说“未成熟的”该用“unripe”。

注意下面两句里都用go，第一句里不用going，第二句里不用went：

at the rate of five miles an hour等表达方式里的the改作a也可以。

第三句等于In the old society a poor man's son rarely went to college.

In a short time he rose to the rank of major等句子里在major 前面没有a。

He was shot at close（或short）range等句在at后面没有a。

raise wheat，raise cattle和raise children是美国英语，相当于英国英语grow wheat，breed cattle和rear children。

a rain是“一阵雨”,rains是“几阵雨”，the rains指“（热带地方的）雨季”。

railway当然是类名词，但可以说a stretch of railway和three thousand miles of railway。

railroad（铁路）在英国现在不通用，但在美国比railway 普通。

注意下面第一句和第二句里没有the，第三句里有the：
