stone统指“石”，是物质名词，a stone是“一块石头”，stones是“多块石头”。

stock(-)jobbing作“证劵买卖、证劵投机”解，参见stock(-)jobber

stock(-)jobber在英国指“证券经纪人”，跟stock(-)broker（股票经纪人）不同，在美国指“股票投机商”，往往含有轻视的意思。

stock(-)holder（股东）原来是美国英语，相当于英国的shareholder。

集合名词stock用作“股份”解原来是美国用法，相当于英国的shares。

keep (in) step with中可以有in，可以没有in。

stenotypist指“（用表音符号速记法的）速记者”，就是“用stenotypy的速记者”。但有时也指任何速记员。
