presently现在作“不久以后”解，除了在苏格兰以外，不作“现在”解。

该说at present，不可说at the present，in present或in the present。但for the present里必须有the。at present是“现在”，for the present是“暂时”。

in the presence of中的the省去的时候很少。

下面三句意思相同：

prepare有时有双宾语。例如：His wife is preparing him a meal.

He wrote to me preparatory to visiting me等句子里的preparatory用作副词

make preparations和make preparations for两种表达方式里的preparations改作preparation也可以，但很不普通。

关于a preoccupied air（一个心不在焉的神情）等

premises（房屋、处所）不可改作单数形式premise。

在美国有时用American premier或premier，指“国务卿”（Secretary of state）。

initiate organizational preliminaries作make preparations解，是公文英语。

prejudice是“偏见”（抽象名词）。例如：This is mere prejudice. a prejudice是“一种偏见”，prejudices是“多种偏见”。
