chance后面接of或for和动名词或接不定式都可以，如a （或the）chance of（或for）doing it和a（或the）chance to do it。

chamber现在不普通，通常该用room。

a certain man, certain persons, a certain Mr Carr等表达方式里的certain作“某”解，是形容词。

master of ceremonies（司仪者）比master of the ceremonies普通。

last century是“上世纪”（对21世纪来说是20世纪），the last century通常是“最近过去的100年”（对2002年来说是1902-2001年）

只有一次的庆祝也往往用复数形式。例如：The whole town was astir because of the celebrations.

celebrate用作不及物动词作“欢乐一阵”解，是美国口语。
