furnish（供给）原来不可有双宾语，如原来可以说We furnish them with food和We furnish food to them（第一句比第二句普通）

on furlough和on a furlough都可以说。

funereal只用作形容词，不可用作名词。funeral原来是形容词，但现在也用作名词。

function往往指正式的社交集会，前面用at。

fun是抽象名词，前面不可加a，也没有复数形式。

复数形式fumes有时指“臭气”。

full后面接of，如The bottle is full of water和The river is full of fish。

-ful加在名词后面形成名词，有“满”的意思。

fuel统指“燃料”。说“一种燃料”通常说a kind（或form）of fuel，说“多种燃料”通常说kinds（或forms）of fuel。

fruits of victory（胜利果实），fruits of labour（劳动果实）等表达方式里习惯用复数形式。

注意下面两句里的frost意思不同：

in front of作“在…的前面”解。例如：There is a hill in front of the house. in the front of作“在…的前部”解。
