already用在疑问句里往往有惊讶的意味。

alphabet是一种文字的按次序排列的全部字母。

read aloud是“读出声来”，并不是“高声地读”，但cry aloud 是“高声地喊（或哭）”，shout aloud是“高声地喊”。

alone, lone, lonely和lonesome的不同，下面几点该注意：

alms（施舍物）用作单数和复数都有。例如：an alms（单数）和these alms（复数）。

almost no..., almost nothing和almost never作“几乎没有…”等解，都是美国英语

Almighty God和the Almighty都指“上帝”。用了God用the或不用the都可以，现在通常不用，不用God必须用the。

allusion后面接to，作“暗指…”解，如his allusion to his happy childhood, allusions to Shakespeare和what he said in allusion toyou。

严格地说，allude to是“隐约地说到”或“暗指”，并不是“明白地说到”

all-round（全面的）着重在才能、功用等。
