汉译英常见错误

[译] 我想买三打鸡蛋。
[误] I want three dozens eggs.

[译] 本杰明·富兰克林的发现之一是：闪电是电。
[误] One of Benjamin Franklin’s findings was that lightning is electricity.

[译] 润滑油可能把金属与金属滑动接触造成的损害减少到最低限度。
[误] The lubricant must minimize the damages from the metal-to-metal sliding contact.

[原] 地板上全是污物。
[误] The floor was covered with dirts.

[原] 各类粮食作物通称谷物。
[误] Any of various types of grain plants is generally called corns.

[原文] 我写这封信衷心祝贺你获奖。
[误译] I write this letter to offer you my heartiest congratulation on winning the prize.

[原文] 每年夏天我们总是定期到南海岸度过两周。
[误译] We always go to the south sea bank regularly for a fortnight every summer.
