容易误译的英语

get the monkey off（美国俚语）是“戒毒”之意。

get the key of the street（口语）意为“无家可归”。

from Missouri是美国俚语，意为“存［怀］疑的”、“不轻信的”。

get the business（美国俚语）意为“受到粗暴对待”、“被愚弄”。同样，give the business也不是“给（别人）工作”，而是“粗暴地对待别人”、“愚弄别人”。

get the boot（俚语）意为“被解雇”、“被开除”。注意boot是用单数。

get outside of（英国俚语）意为“吃”、“喝”、“吞”。

get [come] out of the red意为“不再亏损”、“有盈余”、“赢利”。应注意把它与习语in the red（见该条）区分开来。

本例的from China to Peru意为“举世”、“遍天下”、“到处”。

get one's shirt off [out]（俚语）意为“激怒某人”。

from A to Z意为“从头到尾”、“全部”、“完全”、“彻底地”，它与alpha and omega（见该条）同义。
