容易误译的英语

go up King Street（澳大利亚英语）意为“破产”。

go up in the air（口语）意为“发怒”、“激动”。

assume [give oneself, put on] airs 意为“装腔作势”、“矫揉造作”、“摆架子”。

give up 意为“放弃”、“停止”、“让出”。Arlen为男子名。

go to the dogs（口语）意为“堕落”、“潦倒”、“毁灭”、“完蛋”。

go to the bar [Bar]意为“当律师”。

go to sea意为“当水手”、“出航”。若在sea前加上冠词the，那又是另一种意思了。

go to Davy Jone's locker意为“葬身鱼腹”、“溺［淹］死”。

go steady（美国口语）意为“跟一个固定异性约会”、“确立情侣关系”。

Go to Bath!（口语）意为“滚蛋”、“见鬼去吧”。注意Go和Bath都要大写。
