 (2) 有时跟副词或介词短语；有时不用no, not，而用有否定意义的hardly ever等词。

(1) 连接词not only...but(also)的意思是“不但……而且……”，侧重于后者。当连接两个主语时，谓语动词在人称和数上随后边的主语。

 (2) not a little 与not a bit 相反，意思是“不少，很大”，表示程度，用于书面语，相当于a good deal, extremely。口语中一般用a lot (of), considerably, very much。

no wonder, it's no wonder, (it's ) small wonder 与 it's not surprising 这几个说法意思相同，都指“……不令人奇怪；难怪”。

 (2) no other but 是古体，现在一般不用。no other than 还可以接动词或副词，但表示的意思与上述不同。

(1) no more...than, not ...any more than 意思都是“和……一样都不……”，两者都表示否定，前者为书面语，后者为口语。

no longer, not any longer, no more 与 not ...any more 这四个短语的意思都是“不再”。

(1) no less than意为“多达；不下于……；有……之多；与……一样”，相当于as many as, as much as，不仅用于修饰不可数名词，也常用于修饰可数名词复数。

在这里but是关系代词，意思接近that...not, who...not， which ...not，表示“没有……不是……”。

(1) no better than意思是“与……一样；和……差不多”(多指坏的人或事)。

 (2) 名词前没有冠词、物主形容词或指示词时，用no；在冠词、物主形容词、指示词前要用none of(=not any of)。

(1) ①no用作副词，可与形容词或副词的比较级连用，意为“并不……一些”，等于not any。
